If you’re anything like me, you simply hate when your favorite TV shows go on “holiday hiatus” for 4-6 weeks, leaving you feeling slightly depressed and bereft of your routine enjoyment. Sigh. It seems I’ve done the same with my blog, only for a teensy bit longer than that. I suppose everyone deserves a break, no? Well its a fresh new year and the time for resolutions and all that jazz, so I officially announce that the hiatus has ended. Not only am I back to a regular blogging schedule, but I’ll be adding some new features around here as well. Oh, and if you’re visiting via a blog reader, click on through and come see the fresh new blog design. Here are some things you can look forward to in the near future….

Catch up! Even though I haven’t blogged about it, business was still full steam ahead behind the scenes, so I have some lovely weddings and fabulous family portraits to share with you.
Personal Work. Photography is my livelihood because I choose it to be. I choose it because I love it. It is a simple truth. So it goes without saying that I still enjoy some quality one-on-one time with my camera, where she (yes, she’s a she) and I can create whatever we want together. I’ll be posting more of that this year.
New Website(s)! I’m excited to reveal my new websites that will closely match the new blog design very soon! The blog was ready to go and I just couldn’t wait to launch it all together, so I launched it early, but my new weddings and portrait sites are coming shortly.

While you’re eagerly awaiting the many images to come, I’ll leave you with our holiday card from this year. There will be a whole post from this shoot soon, but for now, here’s a few of our favorites that we put on the card. Enjoy and I’ll see you back here soon!

I am both humbled and so very excited to share that Delaware Bride Magazine has published Kirsten & Matt’s Winterthur Wedding in their Fall/Winter issue! It was one of my favorite weddings from last year- as much as I know I probably shouldn’t say that! haha! – and the details really stood out, thanks to the amazing work of Proud to Plan. A wonderful team of vendors worked hard to pull this wedding together and it was simply amazing, despite the rain.

I’m proud to share with you that two of my photos were recently published in the Spring/Summer 2010 issue of Delaware Bride magazine. It’s exciting and an honor to be included in our small state’s only bridal magazine. The detailed depiction of the wedding rings is from my own mother’s wedding this past fall – Congrats Mom! (Yep – just gave a shout out to my mom, don’t hate!) The rings are nestled in her favorite bamboo plant, which resulted in one of my favorite ever ring shots. The bride having her makeup applied is none other than Kirsten, who’s fabulous Winterthur Wedding was also last fall.

Debbie & Tom’s amazing Christmas wedding album came in this week and I am so excited to share this gorgeousness with you!

Sometimes I wonder if it’s overkill to provide so many fabric & leather options for my albums, because the majority of my clients end up going with a simple leather with an imprint. But when Debbie and I met over lunch to discuss her album cover options, she dove head first into the swatches and had a field day. She came up with a couture color combo that worked so fabulously for this album, thereby strengthening my decision to carry such a diverse array of cover options. Winter Musings | Delaware & Philadelphia Photographer

Here it is, Winter. It’s a quiet(er) time of year for us here, with relatively few winter weddings going on the area, but with great behind-the-scenes action instead. Lots of planning and album designing, and what else?? Catching up on the blog!! That’s right! A great time to catch you up on the rest of the Awesome weddings and sessions I had the pleasure of shooting this past fall. Starting this week, we’ll be back to a regular blogging schedule, with lots to share. I’m really excited to finally share with you all the great couples I’ve had the chance to work with, along with a few other things I’ve shot recently.

Speaking of behind-the-scenes, one of my (many) winter projects was to update galleries on the website, so I’m happy to report that I can cross that off the list! All of the galleries have been updated in the past couple weeks and there are all new Featured Galleries to enjoy. You may also notice that the blog header images are new, as well. So if you haven’t been over to the website recently, get on over there and take a peek and see what’s new!

Little old Delaware (and our surrounding areas) has recently been subject to what is now being referred to as “Snowmageddon,” with record amounts of snow fall this season. While it’s been nice to be snowed in, with nowhere to go for several days, I could really have done without the shoveling! That said, I thought I would leave you with a photo of my dog, Oreo, trekking out on a snow drift in our yard. He’s quite the little adventurer and he’s luckily light enough not to break the semi-frozen top layer and fall through!

Why do wedding photos take so long?

I’m sure this is a question on the mind of every recently married bride. A well respected photographer that I admire (read: blog stalk), Anne Ruthmann, gave such an eloquent explanation to this question, that I believe really covers what most of us wedding photographers go through. I won’t transcribe it here, rather I’d like to send you to her blog to read it. But please do give it a once over, especially brides. It’s such an accurate depiction of how a lot of photographers (myself included) struggle with the balance of artistic perfection vs business decision, as it pertains to turn around times.
