Old City Philadelphia Family Portraits

First up in the catch-up game, here’s a lovely family portrait session I had the privilege of photographing in Philadelphia last fall.Â Both siblings were moving away, so the family decided it would be a perfect time to have some family portraits made.Â Any excuse for family portraits is a good excuse, if you ask me.Â Not that you did, but I thought I’d throw that out there.Â Â We had a lot of fun walking around Old City, it’s one of my favorite places to shoot in Philly. Mommy & Me :: Delaware Family Portrait Photographer

This session was one of my favorite family sessions this year.Â I first photographed this sweet little girl when she was still in her mommy’s belly and then again when she was first born.Â Hard to believe that she is already a year old!Â The interaction between Kristina and her daughter, Hailey, is so sweet, you might need to see the dentist after viewing this.Â (hardy har har!)Â I’ll start off with my absolute favorite photo from the session…

This photo completely melts my heart. I'm not ashamed to say that my eyes teared up when I first came to it during editing.

Oh yes, little miss Hailey thinks she's utterly adorable when she puts her underpants on her head. (and she would be right!)

and to end on a funny note - this photo truly tells a story that I'm sure most moms can relate to, weening your toddler off of their binky!

Baby Ryleigh :: Delaware Newborn Photographer

Rachel & Adam welcomed baby Ryleigh into the world in August and were surrounded by friends and family when I arrived at the hospital to photograph their growing family.Â A lot of conversation was made on the topic of who she looked more like…mom or dad?Â Dad’s baby photo appeared from Grandma’s wallet for comparison and it was decided that she had her daddy’s hair but her sweet little nose looked more like her momma’s.Â It was a beautiful day and such a pleasure to document the hospital room happenings on beautiful baby Ryleigh’s first day of life.

Longwood Gardens Engagement | Denise & Ed

I met up with Denise & Ed at Longwood Gardens recently to shoot their Engagement Session.Â Longwood is one of my favorite garden locations for portraits.Â Such an exquisitely gorgeous place.Â Denise seemed a bit camera shy when we first started but soon enough she was doing a fabulous job of ignoring me.Â Don’t be quick to judge!Â She was really ignoring the camera, not really ME and hey, I told her to.Â Â Mother Nature provided us with amazing weather, not too cool and not too hot, the temperature was just warm enough to be perfect.Â We really enjoyed ourselves.Â Check out a few of my favorites.

The way Ed smiles for Denise just makes me want to dance.

I loved this tree and the backlighting coming through it. It was just screaming for me and my fisheye lens! haha!

I love the intimacy of the near kiss. It makes for such passionate images!

Baby Hailey | Delaware Newborn Photographer

It seems like it was just yesterday that I photographed Kristina’s Delaware Maternity Portraits and now Baby Hailey is here!Â She’s such a great baby, not fussy at all and just sleeps all the time, which is a blessing to a new parent.Â I took some photos of Baby Hailey before she was even 12 hours old in the hospital and then I met them at the house for some more photos a couple days later.Â Hailey looks like a porcelain doll, she’s so gorgeous and Kristina looks amazing for having just had a child!Â Check out the photos…

Look at that smile at not even a day old! So cute!

I think this may one of my favorite images all year. I love the story here - Grandmom fusses over the baby while the nervous new mom looks on in the background. Love it!

Lisa & Philip | Rockwood Park Engagement

When I first met Lisa & Philip, I was enamored by Philip’s British accent.Â I love accents.Â I love observing how different cultures say or do things so different from the way I do.Â For instance, as they were leaving after our consultation, he remarked how it was wonderful to meet me and my “pooches.”Â I just had to smile!Â Warning:Â I am severely dorky at times and this was one of those times…I think I must have called my dogs pooches for a week after that because I was so enlightened to have a new name for them.Â Â and Lisa – her smile is so sweet it could give you a toothache.Â At the time when I met her she had braces but she smiled so brightly despite them and they couldn’t detract from the smile in her eyes.

We met up at Rockwood Park for their engagement session and it was a beautiful day!Â A little on the warm side but still, a great day for photos.Â Â Take a look….

Lisa's smile is even more radiant since she had her braces off recently.

Love the light rays in this one.

My absolute favorite of the day. This image is such an intimate portrait of them and it shows how comfortable they are with each other.

I love the playful expressions in this one.

Michelle & Eddie | Brandywine Park Delaware Engagement

Michelle & Eddie had a whirlwind day before they even met up with me at Brandywine Park for their engagement session.Â They were such troopers!Â Living in Virginia and marrying in Dover, Delaware, they try to be as productive as possible on the days they’re in the area for wedding planning.Â As tired as they both were, I think they appreciated the chance to relax and chill for their photos.Â I don’t do alot of posing, as it’s not really my style, rather, I tend to direct couples to an area of good light and let them be themselves.Â It makes for more personal and relaxed photos and a stress-free good time.Â Â Enjoy some photos from their session below.

Brandywine Park is one of my favorite picturesque spots in Wilmington.

I love moments like these! I don't remember what was so funny but I'll take it. LOL

I love the framing here, shooting through a break in the rose bushes.

Picture Perfect! I love Michelle's necklace, I wanted to steal it from her, but that just wouldn't be very nice, would it?

Everyone knows my love for fisheye photography. Some of my clients like it more than others, however, so I always like to ask if they are a fan before I go all out with it. Michelle & Eddie weren't quite sure what I was referring to so I took a few test shots and showed them on the back of the camera. Immediately, Eddie's eyes brightened up as he said "That's so COOL!!"

One of my favs! Love the warm, lovey-dovey feel to this.

I like to post images to my business page on facebook before blogging them - a sort of treat for facebook fans to see the images first. (So if you're not already a fan on facebook, here's a reason to be!) I've gotten a LOT of awesome comments on this one, so this seems to be a fan favorite.

I think this one is my personal favorite. Love the symmetry, the lighting and the moment.

When my clients are relaxed and having fun, than it really shows in the photos and that's when I feel like I've done a good job.
