HOT doesn’t even begin to describe the kind of day we had for Beth & Mike’s engagement session. We’re talking eggs-would-totally-cook-on-the-sidewalk kinda heat. Brutal. No sweat off our backs though! Perfect remedy for a day like that? Water gun fight!! After some strolling around Historic Old New Castle together and getting some shots with Dutch, their adorable 9 month old English Bulldog, the session ended with a water gun face-off. Be sure to check out the slideshow at the end to see how THAT turned out. Mwahahahaha! My clients are so much fun. Thanks for being such awesome sports, guys!

Longwood Gardens Engagement | Denise & Ed

I met up with Denise & Ed at Longwood Gardens recently to shoot their Engagement Session. Longwood is one of my favorite garden locations for portraits. Such an exquisitely gorgeous place. Denise seemed a bit camera shy when we first started but soon enough she was doing a fabulous job of ignoring me. Don’t be quick to judge! She was really ignoring the camera, not really ME and hey, I told her to. Mother Nature provided us with amazing weather, not too cool and not too hot, the temperature was just warm enough to be perfect. We really enjoyed ourselves. Check out a few of my favorites.

The way Ed smiles for Denise just makes me want to dance.

I loved this tree and the backlighting coming through it. It was just screaming for me and my fisheye lens! haha!

I love the intimacy of the near kiss. It makes for such passionate images!

Lindsay & Nick | Newtown, PA Engagement

I met up with Lindsay & Nick in their hometown of Newtown, PA for their engagement shoot. These guys are self proclaimed book worms (and Nick even proposed to Lindsay by hiding her ring in a book!), so it was just perfect to shoot in the local library. After that, we took a stroll through the main street in the town, to see what else we could get into and found some cool spots. Enjoy the photos!

Lisa & Philip | Rockwood Park Engagement

When I first met Lisa & Philip, I was enamored by Philip’s British accent. I love accents. I love observing how different cultures say or do things so different from the way I do. For instance, as they were leaving after our consultation, he remarked how it was wonderful to meet me and my “pooches.” I just had to smile! Warning: I am severely dorky at times and this was one of those times…I think I must have called my dogs pooches for a week after that because I was so enlightened to have a new name for them. and Lisa – her smile is so sweet it could give you a toothache. At the time when I met her she had braces but she smiled so brightly despite them and they couldn’t detract from the smile in her eyes.

We met up at Rockwood Park for their engagement session and it was a beautiful day! A little on the warm side but still, a great day for photos. Take a look….

Lisa's smile is even more radiant since she had her braces off recently.

Michelle & Eddie | Brandywine Park Delaware Engagement

Michelle & Eddie had a whirlwind day before they even met up with me at Brandywine Park for their engagement session. They were such troopers! Living in Virginia and marrying in Dover, Delaware, they try to be as productive as possible on the days they’re in the area for wedding planning. As tired as they both were, I think they appreciated the chance to relax and chill for their photos. I don’t do alot of posing, as it’s not really my style, rather, I tend to direct couples to an area of good light and let them be themselves. It makes for more personal and relaxed photos and a stress-free good time. Enjoy some photos from their session below.

Brandywine Park is one of my favorite picturesque spots in Wilmington.

Picture Perfect! I love Michelle's necklace, I wanted to steal it from her, but that just wouldn't be very nice, would it?

Everyone knows my love for fisheye photography. Some of my clients like it more than others, however, so I always like to ask if they are a fan before I go all out with it. Michelle & Eddie weren't quite sure what I was referring to so I took a few test shots and showed them on the back of the camera. Immediately, Eddie's eyes brightened up as he said "That's so COOL!!"

One of my favs! Love the warm, lovey-dovey feel to this.

I like to post images to my business page on facebook before blogging them - a sort of treat for facebook fans to see the images first. (So if you're not already a fan on facebook, here's a reason to be!) I've gotten a LOT of awesome comments on this one, so this seems to be a fan favorite.

I think this one is my personal favorite. Love the symmetry, the lighting and the moment.

When my clients are relaxed and having fun, than it really shows in the photos and that's when I feel like I've done a good job.

Kirsten & Matt | New Castle, Delaware Engagement

When Kirsten and I discussed where to shoot their engagement session, she mentioned her love of graffiti and color and I knew a great little spot to start at. Casablanca is a bright and colorful building with some graffiti on the backside and offered a great alternative to venturing into the lesser desirable parts of the city! After we shot around Casablanca for a little bit, we headed on over to historic Old New Castle and Battery Park for a change of scenery. I don’t think I’ve ever smiled more during an engagement session than with these two. When you see the pix, you’ll know just why.

Kirsten & Matt's smiles are infectious! They laugh so easily with each other, it's a beautiful thing.

I love the complete contrast of the graffiti to their expressions, obviously they are far from ruin.

Fearless. I was so paranoid that she was gonna fall into the water but she was totally calm and collected. LOL

This was about the point that Kirsten pointed out my gazillion mosquito bites because silly me wore capri pants! I was itchy for a week but it was totally worth it for these guys.

When we finished our shoot, Kirsten put her hands in between the 3 of us like a football huddle and said “Can I get a Whhoooooaaaa Misty!” It was so cute. Thanks for the fun, guys! Can’t wait for your amazing Winterthur Wedding this weekend!

Colleen & Dave | Cherry Hill, NJ Engagement

When it’s time to schedule the engagement session, the #1 question I always get is “Where should we do it?” I always recommend choosing a place that means something to you or doing an activity that you both enjoy versus just picking a random park. (Random parks rock too, for sure, but I think it makes it more personal when you do something or go somewhere meaningful.) So when Colleen mentioned including some shots of them playing RockBand and also some shots with their ferrets, I knew she was a girl after my own heart! I swear that fate brought us together for me to be their photographer! haha! When I showed up at their apartment, I was so psyched to finally meet them in person and we got along just as well as I imagined. (Colleen just KNEW that I was for her and booked me before we could even meet in person! How awesome is that?!) These guys were so much fun to hang with and photograph, so check out some of my favs from their session below.

We started off at a park not far from where they live and I loved this cute little bridge.

Mary Catherine & Chris | White Clay Creek Engagement

Mary Catherine and Chris are real outdoorsy kind of people so we immediate decided to do their engagement session at White Clay Creek State Park in Newark, where they’ve spent a lot of their free time over the years. We lucked out by just missing the rain for their session, our timing couldn’t have been more perfect. We had a great time walking the trail and hanging out at the creek. I’m really looking forward to photographing their wedding at The Farmhouse in September.

I love natural expressions like these. They warmed up to me and the camera right away.

This photo reminds me of an impressionist painting somehow.

Chris spotted this little guy hanging out, so of course I had to snap a shot or two.

My favorite part about this simple portrait is just how MC & Chris look so at home here. You can see not only their love for each other but also how comfortable they are in nature.

These guys are adventurous! They climbed out into the creek barefoot and I didn't even have to ask them to! Of course they were very careful, Chris has experience as a park ranger so he directed Mary Catherine the safest way to go and no one fell in.

I love this image! My husband walked by my desk and this photo stopped him. All he could say is "WOW."

Tessie & Tom | Lancaster Engagement

I met up with Tessie & Tom in Lancaster, PA for their engagement session and we had such fun! Tessie is a photographer from the Lancaster area and she has shot with me many times in the past few years. We have always worked well together so I knew it would be fun to have her and Tom in front of my camera. She continuously warned me that Tom makes funny faces in photos, but I assured her that he only does that in front of her camera. haha! Check out some of their engagement photos…

Smiles, smiles and more smiles. The entire time. Love it!

No goofy faces from Tom yet. Hmmm...I think he does it on purpose just for Tessie's camera. LOL

We had some geese that decided they wanted in on our photo shoot!

Love this stone bridge.

I am generally not a big fan of the cliche gazebo photos, but there's always a way to step outside the box. Here I used my fisheye lens to give a different perspective and I love how it emphasizes the wooden ceiling.

We found some neat sculptures along the walking trail and of course had to put them to use! Have I mentioned that Tessie is very animated? LOL

I love this guitar sculpture - I wish I could take it home!

A peaceful and quiet moment under a willow tree. Romantic, yeah?

Such pretty pretty trees - I love the naturally happy expressions on their faces!

Kisses are a must have. Naturally.

Lauren & Adam | Longwood Gardens Engagement

One of the prettiest places in the area to have photos taken is definitely Longwood Gardens.

Lauren and Adam are such a laid back couple. When I first met Lauren at our consultation meeting, I was so stoked at her enthusiasm for creativity and art. So I was most definitely excited when they decided to book me for their wedding! Their engagement session proved to be all I imagined working with them could be – totally laid back and FUN! They were completely down with every idea I had. We decided on Longwood Gardens for the setting and it was a lovely day to shoot so we had a great time. Check out some of my favs from their session.
