Historic Old New Castle Engagement :: Lauren & Cecil

I love Lucy.  No, not the show.  The dog.  What dog, you say?  Oh, you thought this was an engagement session post?  Right you are, my friends.  This IS the story of an engagement, but I know Lauren & Cecil won’t mind if Lucy steals their thunder just a bit.  Just a teensy bit.  Because once you see their photos, you won’t even notice Lucy because their love is so magnetic.  They have that dreamy rom-com type of love, they do.  Lauren & Cecil are just too cute for their own good!  I can’t wait to photograph their wedding this August.

But back to Lucy.  because I just love her.  Lucy lives in an adorable town home in the coveted historic town of Old New Castle and Lauren & Cecil live with her.  She’s smart and funny and so incredibly cute.  and yes, I’m still talking about a dog.  :)   She tagged along with us and showed off how well behaved and talented she is while posing for a photo op here and there.  I’m not entirely sure if they know it or not but Lucy has Lauren & Cecil wrapped around her little tail.   undefinedundefinedundefined

Historic Old New Castle Engagement :: Jen & Ron

Jen & Ron both grew up in the area so Historic Old New Castle seemed like a perfect place for their engagement session.  To top it off with a twist, we thought it would be fun to explore some shots around the old cemetery there, fitting right in with their Halloween wedding theme.  Check it out!

Valley Forge Engagement :: Amy & Ryan

When Amy & Ryan first came to meet with me about being their wedding photographer, I was surprised that they recognized my dog, Maddie, as a Papillon!  Not many people are familiar with the breed, but it turns out that Amy & Ryan have a Papillon too!  I was so excited to hear this as I think it’s a spectacular breed.  :)   After seeing photos of their peppy little pap and with much encouragement from Amy & Ryan, I was even inspired to give Maddie a shorter haircut, like Gypsy’s.

When it came time to do their engagement session, of course I suggested bringing Gypsy & her big brother, Harley (their other, much larger and equally adorable dog) along.  Thankfully, Valley Forge National Park is very dog friendly and Gypsy and Harley were so well behaved and of course, paid generously for their time with doggie currency (TREATS!).  Before we went over to Valley Forge though, they took me on a tour of their wedding venues, so I can be prepared for the wedding day.  A great big hug and thank you to Amy’s mom for hanging out with us and helping out with her dog wrangling whispering skills.

Old City Philadelphia Engagement :: Jen & Jeff

Jen and Jeff were just the tiniest bit camera shy when we first met up in Old City Philadelphia for their engagement session.  As it happens, this is not uncommon, so I assured them that it wouldn’t feel so bad once we got into it.  I can relate, as undeniable a passion as mine is for this art, I am loath to jump in front of the camera for a taste of my own medicine (Self-portraits excluded, of course ;) ).  Being a believer of practicing what you preach, however, has me in front of the camera at least once a year (for our annual holiday cards) and sometimes even in between.  I am so particular about my own photos, in fact, that I only look to a very short list of trusted colleagues, knowing they will make it fun and produce great photos.  I truly feel that repeatedly being in the position that I put my clients in makes me more sympathetic to their unease in front of the camera and I try my hardest to abate or eliminate that anxiety.  Needless to say, I was very pleased to hear it when Jen said the experience wasn’t anywhere near as bad as she imagined.  :)   Now, onward to some fun photos from their session…
