With the wedding coming up in their home state of California, Kate & Sean wanted to incorporate a bit of their east coast life into the wedding with some engagement photos featuring the city they now call home. Our session took us on a little tour of Philly to hit some of the most popular attractions. We started with photos at the Philadelphia Art Museum & Waterworks, followed by a stop at their city apartment for a change of wardrobe. From there we set off for Love Park and of course, to get the infamous Broad Street City Hall shot. We finished off the session with a visit to their apartment building’s rooftop lounge to add a more personal touch to their image selection. Kitty Knight House Wedding :: Beth & Mike

Beth & Mike were blissfully married in a wonderful waterfront wedding celebration at the Kitty Knight House. With a tiffany blue themed wedding, color coordination wasn’t the only perfect coordination to commend here, however. I was excited to be working with the fine ladies of Proud to Plan on this delightful day, as they pulled off yet another outstanding event without a hitch. Beth was breathtaking, having had hair & makeup done by non other than Gloss Salon, whom I highly recommend – I just love Bethany and crew, they do a top notch job and are so wonderful to work with. Bings Bakery handled the cake (another favorite vendor!), Elana’s Broad Street Florist provided the fabulous florals and Synergetic Sounds kept the dance floor jam packed through the night. With the help of these experienced vendors, Beth & Mike were able to enjoy their day, and each other, without worrying about a thing. Special thanks to my friend Karlo Gesner for hanging out and contributing some great photos to their story. Take a look at their day…

Tiffany Blue Wedding Details

Tiffany Blue, with a twist of Nautical, was the name of the game for Beth & Mike’s Galena, Maryland wedding at the Kitty Knight house. I was amazed at the perfect coordination of color at this event – the small touches of tiffany were incorporated beautifully and the hue of blue was a perfect match on every colorful item. If you’re anything like me, you simply hate when your favorite TV shows go on “holiday hiatus” for 4-6 weeks, leaving you feeling slightly depressed and bereft of your routine enjoyment. Sigh. It seems I’ve done the same with my blog, only for a teensy bit longer than that. I suppose everyone deserves a break, no? Well its a fresh new year and the time for resolutions and all that jazz, so I officially announce that the hiatus has ended. Not only am I back to a regular blogging schedule, but I’ll be adding some new features around here as well. Oh, and if you’re visiting via a blog reader, click on through and come see the fresh new blog design. Here are some things you can look forward to in the near future….

Catch up! Even though I haven’t blogged about it, business was still full steam ahead behind the scenes, so I have some lovely weddings and fabulous family portraits to share with you.
Personal Work. Photography is my livelihood because I choose it to be. I choose it because I love it. It is a simple truth. So it goes without saying that I still enjoy some quality one-on-one time with my camera, where she (yes, she’s a she) and I can create whatever we want together. I’ll be posting more of that this year.
New Website(s)! I’m excited to reveal my new websites that will closely match the new blog design very soon! The blog was ready to go and I just couldn’t wait to launch it all together, so I launched it early, but my new weddings and portrait sites are coming shortly.

While you’re eagerly awaiting the many images to come, I’ll leave you with our holiday card from this year. There will be a whole post from this shoot soon, but for now, here’s a few of our favorites that we put on the card. Enjoy and I’ll see you back here soon!

Historic Old New Castle Engagement :: Lauren & Cecil

I love Lucy. No, not the show. The dog. What dog, you say? Oh, you thought this was an engagement session post? Right you are, my friends. This IS the story of an engagement, but I know Lauren & Cecil won’t mind if Lucy steals their thunder just a bit. Just a teensy bit. Because once you see their photos, you won’t even notice Lucy because their love is so magnetic. They have that dreamy rom-com type of love, they do. Lauren & Cecil are just too cute for their own good! I can’t wait to photograph their wedding this August.

But back to Lucy. because I just love her. Lucy lives in an adorable town home in the coveted historic town of Old New Castle and Lauren & Cecil live with her. She’s smart and funny and so incredibly cute. and yes, I’m still talking about a dog. She tagged along with us and showed off how well behaved and talented she is while posing for a photo op here and there. I’m not entirely sure if they know it or not but Lucy has Lauren & Cecil wrapped around her little tail.

Colonial Dames Philadelphia Wedding :: Jen & Jeff

When I first met up with Jen & Jeff for their engagement session, Jeff whipped out his handy dandy Droid phone and pulled up some locations he had scouted ahead of time and saved on a map. Further on I learned that they had a dog, only ate meat about once a month and their wedding would be as environmentally friendly as they could manage. I had good vibes about them from our very first meeting but I truly loved them within the first ten minutes of photographing them that day. Though it rained off and on throughout their wedding day, their easy going personalities allowed us all to easily ignore the weather and focus and on an amazing union of two people. Special thanks go to Rob Nicholson for joining me in documenting this splendid day.

FREE Limited Edition Desktop Wallpaper

One of the core motivations of photography is to document and share a moment, portrait or art piece with the world. So, in the spirit of sharing, I thought it would be fun to offer free limited edition desktop wallpapers each month, featuring some of my personal fine art, nature and wildlife photography. I’ll post a new wallpaper by the 15th of each month and the previous month’s wallpaper will then be retired. To start off this exercise in sharing, this month’s wallpaper, by popular request, is a pretty pretty peacock image, taken last month at the Philadelphia Zoo. Hope you like it! Enjoy!
