Firemen

So this past weekend, Marc and I were home and a firetruck whizzed by our house in our neighborhood! I thought they were police sirens but Marc noticed the firetruck and told me about it. So what do I do? Shoot it, of course! :) I grabbed up my camera (still in house clothes! lol) and ran down the street to find the firetruck.  The firemen were extremely nice and told me I could shoot whatever I wanted.   Some local kids wanted me to take their picture because they thought I was from a newspaper!   It turned out to be a brush fire (looks like some kids set some books on fire near the edge of the woods in our neighbornhood) so there wasn’t much action.  I tried to focus on the the presence of the firemen instead, and focus less on the lack of action.  Here’s a couple of my favs:

Portraits with Beth Crook

Recently I had the pleasure to go out and shoot with Beth Crook, of Elizabeth Crook Photography. We decided we needed new (and fun!) photos of ourselves and so we set off on an adventure. We shot some outside and then decided to shoot in the local Borders Book & Music. Surprisingly, no one stopped us! We had a blast! When we went to leave we realized that it was snowing so of course we shot in that too. :) Check out some of the photos below…

Best of 2006…A Year in Review

Hey everyone! Its 2007 and first and foremost I would like to say, I resolve to blog more often! :) Since its a new year and all, I decided to make a slideshow of some of my favorite photographic moments of 2006. I always like to review where I’ve been and make a plan on where I’m going. Watching this slideshow helped me to see where I’ve been in my photography and where I want to go now…..I took a nature and wildlife photography class in the fall and really enjoyed it. I LOVE weddings but I don’t take much time to shoot just for me. I actually had to take a class to force me to! :) So that brings me to another of my resolutions…..shoot more for fun! I resolve to resurrect my holga and even shoot some film! (I hear the gasps….I know….lol)

2006 was a great year of learning for me. As most of you know, I decided to go back to school to pursue my passion in 2004. But school isn’t the only place you can learn! I hooked up with a really awesome local wedding photographer and shooting with her has opened my eyes to some things I’ve never seen before. Working with other creative minds is a fantastic thing! After all, its said that “You are the company you keep!” :) I also was directed to a wonderful online community of photographers, which I now hold very dear. I’ve learned a lot on this wonderful forum and will hopefully be meeting some of you very soon, in Philly in April!! :)

2006 has taught me that I can do anything that I put my mind to. My decision to pursue my passion for the camera, has led me to great things and I know it will only get better from here! While there were some rough times (working full time, going to school full time and trying to grow a photography business ALL at the same time!), I made it through! My drive and passion for this industry and to make a life built around what I love is enough to maintain the strength to weather the hard times until the good times get only better.

So for anyone out there who has a dream like mine….GO FOR IT! For the rest of you……here’s the slideshow. :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I think 2007 is going to be a fantastic year!

xoxo, Misty
